A young woman died in hospital after waiting nearly two hours for a blood transfusion that could have saved her.

Sally Thompson, 20, lost two litres [4.22675284 pints] of blood when a doctor punctured her jugular vein after failing to follow NHS guidelines while inserting a drip into her neck.

Doctors at Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI) made an urgent request for blood from the hospital's blood bank to help revive her--but none arrived before Sally died, one hour and 45 minutes later.

Now a coroner has ruled that the inability to supply the blood was a 'significant failure' that contributed to Sally's death. . . .

Sally's father, John Thompson, 62, said after the inquest into her death: 'This hospital is supposed to be the cornerstone of the NHS in Manchester, but they couldn't get any blood for two hours.

According to former Enron adviser Paul Krugman, "In Britain, the government itself runs the hospitals and employs the doctors. We've all heard scare stories about how that works in practice; these stories are false." Feel better, Sally?

There's one thing more shocking than the illegal alien smuggling advice that an ACORN official in San Diego gave undercover journalists James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles. It's the illegal alien home loan racket that ACORN has already been operating with the full knowledge of the U.S. government.
On Wednesday, O'Keefe and Giles published the fifth in a series of BigGovernment.com sting videos. ACORN official Juan Carlos Vera coached the pimp-and-prostitute-posing pair on how best to pull off a border-busting smuggling operation. It would be 'better from Tijuana,' he counseled on videotape. Vera then generously offered the investigative couple his Mexican 'contacts' to bring 12 illegal alien girls into the country for prostitution.
GOP California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger now wants an investigation. But neither the Terminator nor any other California public official raised a peep when the very same San Diego ACORN office publicly announced a partnership with Citibank to secure home loans for illegal aliens.
In 2005, Citibank and ACORN Housing Corporation -- which received tens of millions of tax dollars under the Bush administration alone -- began recruiting Mexican illegal aliens for a lucrative program offering loans with below-market interest rates, down-payment assistance and no mortgage insurance requirements. Instead of the Social Security numbers required of law-abiding citizens, the program allows illegal alien applicants to supply loosely monitored tax identification numbers issued by the IRS."

It appears that the Democrats have found a way to fight back against Americans who have growing concerns over the way the government is being run. Have Obama, Pelosi, and other left-wingers come up with better policies? No. Have they thought of ways to present their message in a way Americans can understand? Of course not.

What Pelosi and others are doing is simple: if you are on the losing side of a debate, stop debating and start attacking. Pelosi is now saying that protesters who are exercising their First Amendment rights are "frightening." She likens the debate that's going on now over health care to the potential for violence and disruption that was prevalent in the 1970s. In other words, she wants people to just shut up and fall in line. Well... that's not going to happen... not this time!
