A critique of Walter Cronkite

It seems to many of us that if we are to avoid the eventual catastrophic world conflict we must strengthen the United Nations as a first step toward a [one] world government patterned after our own government with a legislature, executive and judiciary, and police to enforce its international laws and keep the peace.

– Walter Cronkite

Walter Cronkite, the legendary TV anchorman, died on July 17. To most Americans over the age of 50, Cronkite was the always-invited guest at the dinner table as the family sat down to eat in the 1960s and 1970s, the heyday of CBS News. As a young boy, I remember watching Walter Cronkite with my father every evening at 6 p.m. I remember his silver mane, his deep, gruff baritone voice and his trademark authoritative mannerisms that commanded respect. He seemed to me like the General George Patton of network news.

The American public believed that if Cronkite reported it, it must be true. If it wasn't true, then when Cronkite reported it, it became the truth. That was how a 10-year-old kid viewed Cronkite. Multitudes of politicians, activists, journalists, academics and ordinary Americans who mourned his death expressed that same singular belief in Cronkite's omniscience regarding any news event he reported on.

Yet, can we separate the man from the myth?

A 'pandemic response bill' currently making its way through the Massachusetts state legislature would allow authorities to forcefully quarantine citizens in the event of a health emergency, compel health providers to vaccinate citizens, authorize forceful entry into private dwellings and destruction of citizen property and impose fines on citizens for noncompliance.
If citizens refuse to comply with isolation or quarantine orders in the event of a health emergency, they may be imprisoned for up to 30 days and fined $1,000 per day that the violation continues.

[Sen. Ted] Kennedy is very impressed with the activities of Y. V. Andropov and other Soviet leaders.

~ May 14, 1983 Memo of KGB Chief, Victor Chebrikov
The death of any famous or infamous person brings out an assortment of skeletons from their proverbial closet. One skeleton that caught my attention last week was the astonishing claim, based on KGB documents released under the Glasnost policies, of Russian President Boris Yeltsin on Sen. Ted Kennedy.
Kennedy's treason first came to public attention in a Feb. 2, 1992, article in the London Times, titled, 'Teddy, the KGB and the top secret file,' by reporter Tim Sebastian. The seditious events were also published in Human Events in 2003, which read in part:
One of the documents, a KGB report to bosses in the Soviet Communist Party Central Committee, revealed that 'In 1978, American Sen. Edward Kennedy requested the assistance of the KGB to establish a relationship' between the Soviet apparatus and a firm owned by former Sen. John Tunney, D-Ca. KGB recommended that they be permitted to do this because Tunney's firm was already connected with a KGB agent in France named David Karr. This document was found by the knowledgeable Russian journalist Yevgenia Albats and published in Moscow's Izvestia in June 1992.
Another even more disturbing KGB memo was analyzed in detail by writer Paul Kengor in his 2006 book, 'The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism.'

Russian Professor: Collapse Of America Could Begin In Two Months

Paul Joseph Watson
Tuesday, September 1, 2009
Russian Professor Igor Panarin says that events are continuing to confirm his doomsday prediction first made over 10 years ago, that the United States will completely collapse like the Soviet Union before the end of 2010, and warns that the chaos could begin to unfold in as little as two months.
Panarin, doctor of political sciences and professor of the Russian Diplomatic Academy Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told journalists during the unveiling of his new book yesterday that President Obama has done nothing to forestall the fast approaching crisis and that it could begin to properly unfold in November.
“Obama is “the president of hope”, but in a year there won’t be any hope,” said Panarin. “He’s practically another Gorbachev – he likes to talk but hasn’t really managed to do anything. Gorbachev at least had been a secretary of a regional communist party administration, whereas Obama was just a social worker. His mentality is totally different. He’s a nice person and talks nicely – but he’s not a leader and will take America to a crash. When Americans understand that – it will be like a bomb explosion.

Van Jones

Just days before his White House appointment, Van Jones, President Obama's environmental adviser, used a forum at a major youth convention to push for what can easily be interpreted as a communist or socialist agenda.
As WND previously reported, Van Jones, special adviser for green jobs, enterprise and innovation to the White House Council on Environmental Quality, is an admitted black nationalist and radical communist.
Jones' appointment was announced on March 10.
Two weeks before he started his White House job, however, Jones delivered the keynote address at Power Shift '09, which was billed as the largest youth summit on climate change in history. A reported 12,000 young people were at the D.C. Convention Center for the event.
During his speech, available on YouTube, Jones threw around terms like 'eco-apartheid' and 'green for some,' and preached about spreading the wealth while positing a call to 'change the whole system.'

STORM's manifesto, 'Reclaiming Revolution'
JERUSALEM – How is this for a quick clean up job?
Last week, WND reported the official communist-oriented manifesto of a radical group founded by Obama's environmental adviser, Van Jones, was published in full on the Internet. Just hours later, the manifesto was removed and the entire website was taken down. It is, however, still available in web archives.
