OK so listening to the budget debate I was trying to explain to my son how the politicians are using smoke and mirrors to justify their budget numbers.... I cam up with this. So you are renting and apartment or house and your lease is is up and your rent is going from 1000.00 to 1200 a month. You landlord comes to you an tells you he is giving you a 200.00 reduction in rent. The thing is your rent is not now 800.00 but is 1000.00. Yes he gave you a 200.00 reduction but not from what you are paying but from what you would be paying. So your great deal is not so great. Sounds Like the budget debate is Washington.
